Marie Green has enjoyed painting landmark buildings and local landscapes since the early 1960s. Painting classes at the Greensburg Art Club provided the stimulus for her to take Sunday drives with her husband to look for unique and interesting sites to depict on canvas. Old buildings around Irwin and the covered bridge near West Newton became early subjects for Marie's oil paintings. In Saltsburg, PA, an oil rendition of the Saltsburg Feed Mill, was chosen as part of the Special Collection of the Greater Latrobe School District in 1982. She sketched the Greensburg Train Station on several outings with her daughter, Doris, and artist friends. Her preliminary sketches became the delightful composition seen here.

A lifelong resident of Westmoreland County, Marie, at age 90, continues to enjoy painting. She currently works by commission only. Her preferences in media are oils, pastels, and watercolors.

Marie has exhibited widely and has won awards in many shows, including the Shadyside Art League exhibits at the Pittsburgh  Center for the Arts and the Kennerdale Art Show in the Woods. She is a member of the Norwin Art League and a Lifetime Member of the Greensburg Art Club.
